A local company, on the lakeshore since 2009

Clipper City Mold Inspections was started in Manitowoc by technicians who had spent years doing water damage restoration and kept running into the same thing: the water got dried, the invoice got paid, and six months later the mold came back because nobody had dealt with why the water was there in the first place.

So we built a company around the opposite approach. Inspect properly. Test when testing tells you something. Remediate to standard, in containment. Fix the moisture source. Then prove the result with a third-party lab.

In the years since, we have cleared more than two thousand properties across Manitowoc County and the surrounding lakeshore — from single bathroom walls to whole houses bought at auction after a winter with the heat shut off.

What we actually stand behind

Three commitments, and we will hold ourselves to them in writing:

  • We tell you when you don't need us. If the growth is small, on a non-porous surface, with an obvious and fixable cause, we will tell you how to handle it yourself. We would rather have your trust than your $400.
  • We verify our own work with an independent lab. If the clearance sample fails, we come back and re-clean at our cost until it passes.
  • The quote is the quote. Itemized before we start. If we open a wall and find something genuinely new, we stop, show you, and re-quote — we never discover extra work halfway through and add it to the bill.

Certification and insurance

Our technicians hold IICRC certification in Mold Remediation (S520) and Applied Structural Drying. We carry general liability and workers' compensation insurance and can send certificates on request — which you should ask any contractor for.

Worth knowing: Wisconsin does not currently license mold remediation contractors at the state level. There is no state exam and no state registry. That means the burden of checking credentials falls entirely on you as the customer. Ask anyone who quotes you for their IICRC certificate number and their certificate of insurance. A legitimate company will send both within the hour.

Why "Clipper City"?

Manitowoc built clipper ships in the 1800s and submarines in the 1940s, and the nickname stuck. It seemed like the right name for a company that only works here.
